Happy Pride!
This year my twin Meg James and I were asked by Frogpatch Paper & Works to contribute an art piece to their pride event that would make a fun background for selfies and photos. We happened to have a ton of handmade paper on hand (we get a lot of junk mail) and found in this project a perfect opportunity to use a bunch!
This piece is technically untitled, but we've both just been calling it the Rainbow Wall. Frogpatch wanted to keep it in their shop as a permanent piece, so you can still see it there for the foreseeable future if you're in downtown Kennewick! This was made with a refrigerator box, 984 pieces of 4 by 6 inch paper, several tubes of the cheapest acrylic paint we could find (then watered down), and industrial quantities of PVA wood and craft glue. The colors are based on the Gilbert Baker 9-stripe pride flag.
Although this is a little out of the ordinary for my typical work (and Meg's), I wanted to share it before Pride Month is over. Happy Pride, this month and every day!
